OKI Data Americas Promotes Takabumi Asahi to President, Chief Executive Officer

OKI Data Americas, which markets its products under the OKI® Printing Solutions brand, today announced Mr. Takabumi Asahi has been promoted to President and CEO of OKI Data Americas.
Asahi will be responsible for the vision, strategy, and leadership for OKI Data Americas and assisting in global decision-making. He will lead the profitable growth of the company as OKI Data Americas maintains its leadership position as the industry’s only end-to-end solution provider.
Previously, Asahi held the position as Executive Vice President and COO of North America at OKI Data Americas where he was involved in the development and implementation of the international business strategy in all product areas targeted at the North American market, including sales and marketing, product marketing, account management, finance and logistics. “Leadership and inherent business intuition are key qualities needed to run a successful business and Asahi has repeatedly demonstrated both in his years at OKI,” said Harushige Sugimoto, President and CEO of OKI Data Corporation in Tokyo, Japan. “OKI continues to grow and cultivate award-winning products and Asahi’s extensive knowledge; leadership ability and fortitude will be an asset to the company.”
Asahi assumed his new responsibilities on August 1, 2009.
Former President and CEO, Stewart Krentzman, will continue with OKI Data Americas as Advisor, Executive Management providing insight, guidance and expertise based on his experience within the technology industry.

About Takabumi Asahi
Since October 2008, Asahi has served as President and CEO of OKI Electric America Inc., where he had executive control over the corporate business and financial planning for product sales. In this position, he directed company-wide sales operations and activities to ensure successful business operations and increased corporate profitability. OKI Electric America also conducts marketing and sales activities for its info-telecom business and other Group businesses including sensor devices, printed circuits, cables, and power supplies.
Asahi joined OKI Data Americas parent company, OKI Electric Industry Co., Ltd. in Japan in 1987, and has held numerous positions within various overseas operations in the semiconductor business. He has experience in strategic planning, sales and marketing, as well as numerous management positions such as President of OKI Taiwan Inc., from 1998 to 2000. Prior to his appointment at OKI Electric America, he was President and CEO at OKI Semiconductor Company, located in California. Mr. Asahi holds a B.S. in Applied Science from Chiba University, Japan.
