(July 2006)

OKI Printing Solutions (the brand name for Oki Data Corporation), today announced that its newest digital color page printer, the C5900 Series (Europe & Asia)/C6100 (Americas)*, has successfully achieved Anoto printing qualification.

Since its launch just three months ago, the product has received a variety of professional awards and endorsement – from Germany’s FACTS magazine to Computer and ITP’s Windows magazine in The Middle East – with the Anoto printing qualification the latest testament to its market superiority.

The C5900/C6100 joins OKI Printing Solutions’ color page printer the C5450 (Europe)/C5400 (Americas) and its A3 digital color printer, the C9600, as the only business printers in the world qualified by Anoto for use with Digital Pen Solutions.

As the world’s leading provider of solutions for the transmission of handwritten text from paper to digital media, Anoto ensures all of its partners participate in a rigorous Print Qualification Program to confirm accurate toner and print quality. Stringent testing has confirmed that OKI Printing Solutions is currently the only qualified printer manufacturer able to accurately print the Anoto dot pattern, which is critical to the Digital Pen’s functionality. This is thanks to OKI Printing Solutions’ market-leading digital LED technology that provides end-users with crisp text and graphics, high resolution and fast printing speeds.

Anoto Functionality is currently being used by more than 100 partners worldwide to help meet the challenge of speeding up business processes in industries such as healthcare and logistics. Users of a digital pen with Anoto Functionality are able to capture anything they write in ink on standard paper printed with the Anoto dot pattern, which is invisible to the eye but gives the paper a slightly off-white color. The information is then stored in the pen’s memory, and when docking the pen the information is transferred to a back-end system for printing or further processing. The information can also be sent directly from the pen to another Bluetooth enabled device for communication to a back-end system.

With one of OKI Printing Solutions’ qualified printers, Anoto users can print the digital forms they require as they are needed, rather than purchasing pre-printed forms. This solution not only provides flexibility, but reduces paper wastage and unnecessary expenditure.

In addition to its Anoto Functionality, the C5900/C6100 also provides an impressive office printing solution, offering advanced media handling capabilities, including paper capacity of up to 930 sheets and a 60,000 page monthly duty cycle, so demanding workgroups can print without interruption.

Mikihiko Maeno, President and CEO for Oki Data Corporation says: "We are single-minded in our efforts to provide cutting edge, yet affordable solutions to businesses, and believe that Anoto Functionality offers something truly unique to businesses of all sizes. This is why we will continue to pursue Anoto printing qualification for all of our future product ranges.”

In the United States, Stoneybrook Suites, an elderly care facility in Brookings, South Dakota, has been using the C6100 printer as part of an Xpaper solution deployed by Anoto partner Talario.

Stoneybrook’s President Mr Bruce Burkhardt says: "The combination of Xpaper and OKI Printing Solutions’ C6100, which offers print on demand functionality, has made it so easy for us to get started with digital paper. It has also meant that we’re able to keep our focus where it needs to be - in providing quality care for our residents."

Mats Blom, CEO of Anoto says: “OKI Printing Solutions has again proven to us that their printing technology is the very best available to businesses and we look forward to continuing this fruitful relationship as they bring new products to the market.”

The C5900/C6100 is available through OKI Printing Solutions’ regional sales and marketing offices in Europe, The America and Asia and Oceania.
