At the end of the war Oki Electric operated 28 production plants, beginning with those in Shibaura and Shinagawa in Tokyo and spreading into rural areas where evacuation work sites were set up to avoid damage from wartime air raids. Including volunteers, the company had approximately 22,700 employees.
Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd (Oki Electric) was established to replace the former Oki Electric Co., Ltd. and President Suteji Kanbe was assigned the task of leading the new company.
