ONE HUNDRED YEARS AFTER ITS BIRTH:

This decade marked a century since Kibataro Oki established Meikosha, the company to which Oki Electric traces its roots. Over those 100 years, Oki Electric had grown to become a foremost manufacturer of telecommunications equipment with leading-edge electronics technology as its core business.

 
 

1981

OKIFAX7800, the world's smallest G3 fax machine, was sold into the overseas market.

OKITYPER5300/8300, 24 pin head impact printer, was designed to address the Kanji market in Japan.

DP1000, a Kanji 125 lines per minute printer for office computers, was introduced.

 

1983

Oki Electric entered the mobile communications business through a joint research project with Bell Laboratories, developing products for the North American market.

The OF-101, OKI Printing Solutions' first plain paper fax with thermal transfer technology was introduced.

 

1984

The Microline 92/93 sold 1 million printers since the introduction of ML80.

ML100, the new series of Microline was introduced.

Okimate 10/20/40/50 launched in 1984

 

1985

The Photo Printer OPP6220, became the 2nd generation LED printer.

 

1987

OKI Printing Solutions established Oki UK in Scotland.

OF3GX, the bestseller business personal plain cut sheet-paper type fax machine was launched.

Microline 320/321/390/391, the legendary bestseller Microline 300 and the OPP6024, the first head-fusing non impact printer were introduced.

 

1989

US printer market in 1989 with the OL400 mono printer.

OF-200, the worldís first LED printer based fax machine was launched.
